Ms Oswald is hoping to be one of many new faces at Westminster after May 7 as the Nats' campaign continues to pay dividends, according to pollsters.

Lord Ashcroft's latest analysis of key Scottish seats included East Renfrewshire and it recorded a significant shift in favour of the SNP.

In February Aschroft gave Mr Murphy a narrow advantage but on Friday the task facing the Scottish Labour Part leader seemed to become much more pronounced with Ms Oswald surging to a nine point lead.

Writing in the Barrhead News, Ms Oswald spelled out why7 she thinks she's the right person to fight East Renfrewshire's corner at Westminster.

She said: ""I live in East Renfrewshire with my family. I am passionate about our local area, and have worked with many local community and voluntary groups over a number of years. My job as head of human resources in a large FE College means that I have many useful skills which would help me to represent your interests as a dedicated local MP.

"And as a working mum, I understand very well the needs and priorities of the people in our area.

"This General Election offers a real opportunity for us to elect an SNP MP in East Renfrewshire for the first time. The SNP is the only party which opposes the Westminster austerity cuts.

"Instead, we believe that we must invest in public services, such as health and education, to deliver a more responsible economic policy, and sustainable economic growth.

"We can be a positive and progressive force for change. People who live in our local area deserve to be confident that their MP will stand up for them, and really understand and represent their needs and concerns. I will do this, and I will ensure that I am available and accessible to local people. If I am elected, I’ll be a full time local MP, with the interests of East Renfrewshire people at heart. I will commit to serve the full term of parliament.

"I will work hard to make a difference in East Renfrewshire. Please give me your support."
