Our photographer paid a special visit to one of the weekly Friday morning sessions of the Bookbug classes.

Bookbug sessions introduce music to the very young using simple rhymes, songs and games and are held regularly in libraries and leisure centres across East Renfrewshire.

And the council are inviting parents to come along and join in the fun at these interactive sessions for children and their carers. A spokeswoman for the council said: “We hold tailored Bookbug Sessions for babies and for toddlers as well as open sessions for children aged 0 — 4 years.

“Due to the popularity of sessions and limitations of space we ask that no more than two adults accompany each child.” The Barrhead Foundry has firmly established itself as an integral part of the community since its opening in January.

New and improved library services, a business hub and a soft kids play area have brought the centre a more modern, family friendly vibe.

As well as bookbug sessions there is also a raft of other events friendly to the youngsters in the community.

A spokeswoman added: “The new early years den will be a hive of activity.

“You’ll find baby massage and yoga, storytelling and the ever popular Bookbug sessions.

“The bespoke children’s area will have a vast selection of books and DVDs and will host some super activities including storytelling, crafts and homework help sessions.

“There is a dedicated space for teens where they can relax, read and socialise.” For more information call 0141 580 1174 or email barrheadfoundry@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk
