Tesco bosses have begun a nationwide cull of stores and staff in an effort to reclaim lost profits.
It was feared that the Kelburn Street store could have been one of the supermarkets in line for the chopping block.
However it has been announced that stores in Kircaldy, Troon, Edinburgh and Grangemouth will be the only Scottish stores to close.
Three of the stores are smaller 'Express’ and 'Metro’ stores while the Kircaldy store, a fully fledged supermarket, will shut up shop with a loss of 189 staff.
A total of 326 people will lose their jobs in Scotland as part of the restructuring of the company.
Dave Lewis, chief executive of Tesco, said: “It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that stores in Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy, Grangemouth and Troon are included in the 43 we plan to close. The decision to close these stores has been exceptionally difficult to take. I recognise it will affect many hard working colleagues, our customers and the communities in which these stores are situated."
