The writer, famed for novels such as Quite Ugly One Morning, The Sacred Art of Stealing and Country of the Blind, will travel across the Channel to Paris to give an expert insight into his latest novel, Bedlam, at the Game Connection Europe convention.

The novel, which was released early last year, has been turned into a video-game — and Brookmyre will give fans insider information about the unique collaborative process between a writer who is a big fan of video-games and video-game developers who are big fans of his writing, whilst delivering a lecture entitled From Novel to Game and Back Again.

Brookmyre said: “I’m really excited to be letting listeners in on the story of such an unusual creative project. “Literature and videogames ought to complement each other, and it is surprising that this kind of collaboration is not more commonplace.

“I look forward to discussing this with other distinguished professionals at Game Connection Europe.” The game has been developed by RedBedlam, who are big fans of Brookmyre’s work.

The writer will be joined on stage by RedBedlam’s marketing director Nick Witcher for a 20 minute question and answer session with the audience as they field questions from the crowd about the up coming release.

The video-game version of Bedlam is now available to purchase from Steam. Its features mirror events in the book, including a first-person perspective of the timeless classic Pacman. The book is now also available in paperback form, and is the latest of the 17 novels Brookmyre has published. The Barrhead writer has picked up numerous awards for his books as well as regularly appearing on primetime radio and making a number of television appearances.
