He said: “The result speaks for itself and I think it is a vote for change.

“The UK government will need to change the way it interacts with the Scottish government especially where the issue of funding is concerned.

“I believe a lot of people voted no because afraid of change but they are also still unhappy and it is an issue which will need to be addressed.

“I want people to be happy, and to see this happen the UK government will need to follow through on it’s promises and we need to make sure that they do.

“This has still been a vote for change, Alex Salmond said do not measure the distance by which we have lost, measure the distance that we have moved forward.

“I would accept a form of home rule, such as what was proposed in 1914 and scuppered by the first world war.

“However I would like to thank everyone who helped with the Yes campaign, all the well wishers and volunteers.

“The Levern Valley side and Barrhead has obviously made up the majority of Yes votes in East Ren, but there remains a lot of unanswered questions, such as where did the Labour Party leave its socialist principles?
