Tubbs, Sweetie, Bart and Rickkie are Alaskan Malamutes who were once part of a 42 strong pack of their breed kept in horrible conditions.

Lacking human interaction, and fighting amongst themselves over scraps of food thrown to them, these gentle giants were eventually rescued after their owners abandoned them.

Now the cuddly dogs, similar to a bigger Huskie, are hunting for a good home, and a loving owner.

Pamela Leroy, of the Alaskan Malamute Rescue , said: “These dogs were rescued from a situation in Ireland that saw them come to us in quite a sorry state.

“They were malnourished and covered in scars and scratched, but they have bsaloutely flourished at the kennels here in Barrhead and have become so much more confident and playful.

“But whoever wants to re-home them will need to be patient with them, they aren’t house trained and they need their confidence building more.” The four dogs, along with three others who are not from Ireland but have been rescued from otyher situations, are bbeign kept at the Leverndale Kennels on Glasgow Road in Barrhead.

Aged between three and five, Pamela hopes all the dogs can be re-homed.

Malamutes were bred in Alaska for stamina and strength, and are a more laidback breed than the similar but smaller and leaner husky breed.

They breeds have been made popular by their large size and wolf like appearance, especially after they featured prominently in movies such as the Twighlight saga and TV show Game of Thrones.

Pamela continued: “I would really encourage anyone who wants to adopt one of our lovely dogs to fill out an application from on our website and we will come to asses your home and the environment to make sure it is suitable for the dogs.” More information on Tubbs, Sweetie, Bart and Ricky is available at http://www.malamuterescue.org.uk/Dogs-Available
