Lynn O’Brien, from Isobel Mair School, has been visiting Calgary for an education summit.

She was be one of 76 delegates from all over the world, from South Africa to the Middle East, USA and South America.

The event was organised by Smart Technologies, whose equipment, such as interactive boards, is used in the school.

Lynn said: “I was over the moon when I heard I was successful to attend.

“This was my second year at the summit, having previously attended in 2011. I was really looking forward to connecting with old and new educators and excited to be involved in workshops and seminars as well as extending my Smart skills.

“I also shared the good practice from East Renfrewshire and how we integrate technology into Curriculum for Excellence.” Lynn said there will be many benefits for Isobel Mair from taking part in the summit, as she has brought back a wealth of knowledge and innovative new ideas to share with staff.

Lynn was invited to apply to attend the summit at Smart’s global headquarters because the company have designated her as a ‘Smart Exemplary Educator’.

These are people who lead the way in using Smart products in the classroom.

Isobel Mair is a ‘Smart Showcase school’ and uses a number of Smart products. These allow pupils to use touch, part of their body or pen to activate the board which breaks down barriers to learning for children and young people.
