Dominic, 22, says he first realised that he could communicate with spirits after his father’s death but had always known he was psychic.

He was also diagnosed with the extremely rare Leber’s disease two years ago and this caused his eyesight to deteriorate rapidly.

But he says that he has since been able to fine tune his communication with spirits.

Dominic said: “They say that when you lose one sense the others become stronger and losing my sight has definitely made my communication stronger.” This week, reporter and sceptic Lisa Boyle met with Dominic to try and get a glimpse of the future, and indulge in the psychic experience.

Here’s what she discovered...

NORMALLY I enjoy an almond biscotti with my coffee – but this week I swapped it for a side of tarot cards.

I sat across from psychic medium Dominic Boag in my local Costa Coffee, anticipating what he’d tell me about my future, and perhaps more worryingly – my past.

Although a strange way to spend my Wednesday afternoon, Dominic’s cheery nature made me feel instantly at ease.

That was, however, until he blurted out the news of an alleged seedy affair from my past, one that I had no idea about.

“I think your ex boyfriend cheated on you,” he says, staring me straight in the eye. I blink. Several times. There is some uncomfortable shifting. “What? which boyfriend?” I splutter, trying to rack my brain for some sort of clues. I even attempt to recall a point that I’d perhaps discovered some lipstick on a collar or him sneaking into the bathroom for phone calls. I am completely flabbergasted.

“Yeah there was definitely some sort of affair had,” he says simply. “Sorry, that was a bit out of the blue. But I had to tell you. He’s always trying to contact you and ruin your other relationships. But he’ll never change.” Although at first defensive, I burst into laughter at Boag’s bluntness. He really was going to give me a no-holds barred take on my life. Funny thing was, it was exactly what I needed. I implored him to tell me more.

“I’m going to give you a tarot, palm and spiritual reading,” Dominic explained. “I like to give all three so I can cover everything. I want people to walk away feeling comforted and uplifted.” And with that, he took my palm and started to work his magic. “Oh dear,” he muttered, sending my mind spinning with panic.

“You’re going to have problems with your bank this week. Not to do with your finances, but your bank is going to freeze and they’re going to phone you.” Great, I thought to myself. The very weekend I’m away on holiday. I began to wonder how well that would go.

As if on cue, he started to chat about an impending holiday in the sunshine, and some of the complications which would arise.

“Your holiday is just what you need — and long overdue,” he told me, and I start to relax into my chair.

“However your friend, who has lighter hair than you, has to be careful when she’s out drinking. She might injure herself — not badly, but she might have to take a trip to hospital.” I instantly make a note to call her that night and warn her to pack all safety precautions necessary. I was really starting to take on board what he said. I wondered if it was easy to guess these things, but even then, I’m all ears.

Around ten minutes into the reading, things start to become spooky. “There’s a lady here,” Dominic tells me, looking at something in the corner.

He adds: “Nothing will shut this woman up — I think your gran is here. She’s talking about your mum ironing and washing — she’s to stop being such a clean freak!” A small smile plays on my lips. My mother is the definition of clean freak. She is Monica Geller from Friends — but tenfold.

He explains that politely that my gran is using some ‘colourful language.’ I blush. Even the spirit world uses swear words.

Next up, he asks me who Ann is. I tell him Ann is a friend of my mum’s. “She died too young,” he tells me. “Ann and your mum went through thick and thin together. She says she’s always watching over not just your mum, but you and your brother too. She’s happy.” I am bursting with excitement to tell her. Dominic also tells me things he couldn’t have possibly guessed. The hairs on my arms stand as he describes other family members down to a T.

He then moves onto details about my career, about future prospects, and me winning a top award in three years.

I start daydreaming about a Pulitzer Prize. I start to feel proud – then reality hits and I realise I’m drinking lukewarm coffee and I have a deadline to meet. But I enjoy the prospect nonetheless.

A few others from the spirit world come through to chat to Dominic about me and the other people in my life.

Some things don’t seem to click, then there are others that are just too eerily true to dismiss. He tells me of a book I will write and a predicts a baby girl in six years time. I’m only 25 years old but I begin to wonder if his predictions could come true.

Dominic isn’t afraid to point out some of my bad points and the changes I should make to lead a better life. I admire his honesty.

At the end of the reading, I’m left feeling slightly light-headed, yet also refreshed and positive. I’ve always taken these things with a pinch of salt, but I can’t help but ponder some of the things Dominic has said.

The one thing I learned from Scotland’s youngest psychic is that it’s okay to be open-minded. He definitely has some sort of gift, that is obvious for anyone to see.

Whatever it is, I think we can all learn from Dominic, who is possibly the most brazen medium in the world.

Walking away I’m left convinced that he has definite other-worldly powers. Now I’m dreading that call from the bank…
