The excavator on Aurs Road had its windows smashed between Wednesday (August 6) and Monday (August 11) last week amid heavy rain and driving winds.
Police are appealing for anyone to come forward who may have seen any suspicious activity near or around the worksite.
People are asked to contact police on 101.
