Ken Meikle, a music producer and avid Dr Who fan, can now boast the famous blue box in his back garden. But he admits it’s his little brother Gary and son Aaron, eight, who get to enjoy it most.

Ken said: “I had employed a maintenance guy on the property who has since became a very close friend and one day he turned up with the full size Tardis on the back of a truck for my little boy’s birthday.

“I couldn’t believe it when he said he had made it in a friend’s workshop and he wouldn’t take a penny for it.” The iconic Tardis has been the time-travelling, dimension-hopping transport for the BBC’s iconic timelord since the 1960s when the programme first aired.

Ken also admits he had a Dr Who obsession as a youngster, that recently resurfaced as he restored and maintained three full size Daleks, the robotic arch-nemisis of The Doctor, including one which was remote controlled and used for charity events across the country.

Now his son Aaron, who attends Cross Arthurlie Primary, and brother Gary, who has down’s syndrome and attends the Barrhead Centre, share his passion for the TV hero.

“We have even had helicopters circling the house because they have spotted it and came in for a closer look, and Aaron has a queue of his friends looking to come and have a shot,” said Ken.

“I thought now was the perfect time to show off our own Tardis before Dr Who comes back to the telly later this month.”
