The next meeting of the private landlord forum will include talks on employing reliable tradesmen and how to treat dampness.

There will be details of the ‘trusted trader’s cheme, where local businesses covering a wide range of trades have been rated by their customers and been checked out by both East Ren and Renfrewshire Councils.

Spotting and avoiding property maintenance scams will also be on the agenda, as will energy performance certificates.

Information will also be given on how to identify the difference between dampness and condensation, and the best way to get rid of the problem.

and there will be a general update for landlords on the private rental sector, such as legislation changes.

Convener for housing, Councillor Danny Devlin, said: “I would encourage local landlords to come along to the meeting – it’s an ideal opportunity to get some great free advice from experts in their field.

“As well as gaining some valuable information, there is always plenty of lively discussion.

“We hold the forums several times a year to share useful information, provide expert help on a range of topics and ensure our private landlords are kept up-to-date with legislation.” The meeting will take place on Tuesday August 26 from 6.30pm in Carlibar Primary school, Barrhead.
