Director of Lubavitch Scotland Rabbi Chaim Jacobs recently presented Provost Alastair Carmichael with the bestselling book Rebbe by Joseph Tuleshkin when he visited East Renfrewshire Council headquarters.

The Rabbi explained that it was a gift for the support and friendship the council has shown to the Jewish Community in East Renfrewshire over the years.

The book, published to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of the Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson tells the story of the life and teachings of the influential Brooklyn based Rabbi.

He was the last leader of the world wide Jewish movement which is the largest Jewish educational movement in the world.

He published many of his own works as and is commonly referred to as‘the Lubavitcher Rebbe’or simply‘the Rebbe’.

The Lubavitch Centre run by Rabbi Chaim and his wife Sora is based on the Giffnock synagogue complex.
