Instead the East Renfrewshire Young Team is continuing to change perceptions of youth in Barrhead as they continue to contribute to the community.
They met up for one of their weekly meetings in the sunshine of Cowan Park last week, and we spoke to some of the youngsters to see what it was about the group that keeps them coming back.
New sixth year, 16-year-old Amy Toal said: “The whole group is fantastic and inspiring, we do so many things that we might have found a little weird before like painting in the community but with this group it is great fun.” Fellow pupil Rebecca Watson, who is going into fifth year, added: “We get to meet so many new people and you can see that it isn’t something to shy away from, sharing your problems and life with people younger than you, while doing your bit to really give back."
