Officers were called out to Kerr Street, in the Dalmeny area, on Tuesday last week after a concerned relative reported the man missing.

It is believed the man had not been seen for around a week before being found by officers, who forced entry into the flat.

One neighbour told the Barrhead News: “It all happened quite quickly, the police turned up and they were shouting his name through the letter box and trying to see in to the flat.

“Eventually they just battered the door in.” Police took the call around 10am on Tuesday morning last week and the commotion drew a small crowd in the street.

Sadly the man was found dead inside the flat, where it is believed he lived alone and had lain for up to a week.

Another neighbour added: “I never knew him too well, you’d see him coming in and out every now and then and he’d always say hello, he seemed like a nice guy — it’s a real shame when something like this happens.

“Everyone’s thoughts are with his family.” Police confirmed that the death was not being treated as suspicious but added that the results of a post mortem and toxicology report will not be known for several months.

Community Inspector Alan Dickson said: “At this moment in time enquiries are ongoing into the death of this man however, there does not appear to be anything suspicious surrounding the circumstances.

“A number of officers attended on scene and the man was pronounced dead at the address.”
