Mum-of-one Gillian Brewis this week cemented her place in the top 10 of a competition entered by hundreds of women from across Scotland.

Now she hopes to go all the way to the big final showdown at Jumpin Jaks nightclub in Glasgow next month.

The 27 year-old revealed the level of support she has received has been incredible and has given her a massive confidence boost.

She said: “The whole thing came about as a bit of a joke really.

“The event is run by a company called Buff Butlers, which does butlers for hen parties and events.

“The company was running a competition and I told my boyfriend to enter. He said he would – but only if I entered the competition for women at the same time.” The contest takes the form of a Facebook “like” voting system, where contestants are placed according to the number of likes they get on the photo they submit to the Beer Belle page.

Gillian, who currently sits with more than 50 on her picture showing her dressed in an Alice in Wonderland Halloween costume, is in a good position to secire a top 10 place.

The bar worker added: “It’s been a great boost for my confidence.

“Normally I am such a shy and quiet person and I have never done anything like this before in my life.

“But the number of likes I have had has been amazing – it’s nice to know that someone else thinks you are nice.

“There are girls there with professional modelling shoots and, in some cases, I’m doing better than them, so it feels really great.” The live final could include a bikini round and Gillian, who works at the Toby Carvery, admits she is nervous about it.

She added: “My friends and family have been great in supporting me and I think I could go on and do this, even if it is a little nerve-wracking.” To vote for Gillian to win the Buff Butler’s Beer Belle competition 2014, simply search for “Bella Butler” on Facebook, like the page and then like Gillian’s picture.

The live final takes place on April 11 in the popular Sauchiehall Street venue.
