HOST: Catriona Shearer

Barrhead businesses could be receiving their prizes from the face of Reporting Scotland's breakfast bulletins Catriona Shearer.

The inaugural ceremony, organised by the East Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce will be held on Thursday, June 7 - and businesses have until April 27 to register for one of the six categories.

Host Catriona, 31, is one of the main anchors on the BBC's Reporting Scotland programme and is delighted to have been asked to host the brand new awards.

She told the Barrhead News: "The East Renfrewshire Business Awards are a great opportunity for local businesses to demonstrate excellence and gain widespread recognition for their achievements.

"The event will also showcase outstanding examples of how the business community is driving forward the local economy."

The Avenue Shopping Centre is the Principal Sponsor in association with the East Renfrewshire A Place to Grow as Awards Partner.

Michelle McCabe, Centre Manager at The Avenue, said: "Acknowledging the important contribution made by local businesses to the success of East Renfrewshire is vital to the ongoing prosperity and progress of the district."
