More than 150 freemasons from across Scotland gathered to mark the centenary of Neilston Masonic Lodge.

Among those who attended the event was Ewan Rutherford, who is Depute Grand Master of Scotland.

He took part in a ceremony of rededication and reconsecration at the Lodge’s base in Main Street, Neilston.

Also in attendance was Neilston’s Right Worshipful Master, Ian Brenchley.

Neilston Masonic Lodge opened in 1918 but its history dates back as far as 1817.

Lodge Thistle and Crown No. 1167 was first granted a charter more than 200 years ago but fell away, only to be resuscitated in 1918.

Mr Rutherford, who was guest of honour for the centenary celebrations, congratulated the members for the efforts they have put in to assisting the local community.

Over the years, donations of both money and materials have been made by Lodge members to support various projects at schools and charitable causes in and around Neilston.

Mr Rutherford also passed on a message of goodwill to the Lodge from other members across the country.

Following the ceremony, members of the Lodge and their guests were able to enjoy a three-course meal, with entertainment also provided.
