MEMBERS of Neilston Boys’ Brigade joined forces with other clubs across East Renfrewshire for a marching contest in 2007.
The youngsters, who were part of the Paisley and District Battalion, shone in a junior section figure marching competition.
Six other companies from as far afield as Bishopton, Elderslie, Erskine, Houston, Kilbarchan and Paisley all got involved.
Each section had been practicing the pre-set sequence of eight different moves for several weeks before the contest.
The Neilston boys’ fancy footwork was judged by Stuart and Pauline Neil, from the North Ayrshire Battalion.
Each team went through its well-practised routine accompanied by the stirring sound of marching music.
The boys then enjoyed a well-earned drink of juice before members re-assembled in the hall to hear the results and receive their awards.
The top title was lifted by 1st Houston junior section.
Battalion president Campbell McGregor said: “We have to have a winner but it was a hard choice. Thanks go to everyone.”
“I would like to thank everyone for what has turned out to be a great show.”
