A GARDEN shed in Neilston was targeted by a thief on the same night a would-be burglar was rumbled climbing through a window.

A Millview Meadow resident discovered that their out-building had been forced open close to a property that had also been hit that night.

A neighbour scared off an intruder who was attempting to break through one of his downstairs window.

It is not known if the same intruder is responsible for the shed break-in.

Police have now re-iterated their warning that all residents must secure their property.

Both incidents are thought to have happened in the early hours of the morning on Monday, February 22.

In the previously reported incident a man was disturbed by sounds in his garden.

When he looked out his bedroom window he spotted the intruder attempting to prise open one of his downstairs windows.

After confronting him, the crook sped off on a bicycle at about 2.30am in the early hours of Monday morning.

Deputy chief inspector Alan Dickson said: "We want to remind people to keep their properties secure, including their cars.

"We would also ask anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at this time to get in touch with us via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
