Robert Forsyth broke down yesterday as he relived the events of August 1, 2013, when Jean Forsyth, his wife of over 60 years, passed away.

The 94-year-old was giving evidence at the trial of Martin Muir, 27, who denies causing Jean's death by driving without due care and attention.

Mr Forsyth said he and his 84-year-old wife had been out delivering copies of the Scottish Women's Rural Institute magazine, which she had done for 25 years, and were returning to their home in Uplawmoor, East Renfrewshire.

He told Paisley Sheriff Court: "We were coming back to Uplawmoor for tea.

"That was the objective - but we didn't reach it."
