ST John’s Primary School Choir in Barrhead have released a single in aid of the charity set up in memory of little Jack Kennedy, who died in his mum’s arms at just five years old.

The track, named ‘Jack’s Bright Light Will Shine” reached number 77 in the UK charts, ahead of well-known artists such as Katy Perry and Eminem.

Youngsters in primary five and seven recorded the track last year, organised by Jack’s godmother Emma Martin, a teacher at the school.

Emma, a primary 5 teacher, said: “The Brightest Star charity is very close to my heart, Jack was my godson and his mum is one of my best friends.

“The school have already held other events relating to the local charity so were delighted to be involved.

“The charity hopes that the single will increase awareness of the charity and be another step towards achieving their aims.” Jack, a former pupil at Barrhead’s Arthurlie Nursery and St James’s Primary School, Renfrew, died just days before his sixth birthday — which would have been Christmas Day.
