The 39-year-old was found lying on the pavement of Ralston Road in the centre of the town, with a wound to his head and covered in blood.

An ambulance rushed to the scene at around 9.50pm on Sunday, August 16, and took the man to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, where he received treatment for his wounds.

The ambulance service phoned the police after realising the man had been a victim of assault.

Police are now appealing for information to help trace the man’s attacker.

Sergeant Jim Boyle, based at Giffnock Police Station, said: “This was a violent assault that left one man badly hurt in the street.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything at the time to come forward with any information that they might have.” Anyone with information is being asked to contact police on the non emergency number 101.

The victim was described as wearing a grey t-shirt with blue jeans and trainers.

He was discharged form hospital after receiving treatment for his injuries.
