A COURTROOM was left amused yesterday when a woman appeared in the dock accused of assaulting her partner.
The bizarre court case involved Leeann Brown, of Craighead Street, Barrhead, who was alleged to have assaulted her boyfriend with a selection of beauty products.
Brown, who denied the charge, was set for trial accused of assaulting Colin Simpson by pouring make-up onto him while he slept knowing that he suffers from allergies.
The alleged attack occurred at an address in the town's Commercial Road on August 9 last year.
While Simpson was tucked up in bed, it was claimed that 25-year-old Brown poured various items of make-up onto the bed with the knowledge he suffered from a dermatological skin condition.
At Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday Brown, who arrived late for her court appearance, appeared in the dock on bail and pled not guilty to the alleged assault on Simpson.
The depute fiscal told the court that the Crown would not be seeking a prosecution and asked Sheriff Ruth Anderson to desert the case.
When the Crown revealed they were reluctant to prosecute Brown, the court heard a baffled Sheriff Anderson who was presiding over the case question why it had even been brought to court in the first place.
It is thought that the Crown were reluctant to pursue a prosecution for Brown's unusual charge of assault by attempting to trigger her partner's allergies.
It is believed that since the alleged attack Brown and Simpson have made up, are now back together and have shown how keen they are to move on from this alleged incident by recently getting engaged.
Simpson and Brown both refused to comment when questioned by the Barrhead News outside the court room yesterday.
