A MULTI-TALENTED singer songwriter has just finished recording her debut album with rock star Jon Fratelli.
Local woman Lou Hickey recently signed a record deal with the world famous Island Records and she hopes to follow in the footsteps of her labelmates such as Bob Marley, U2 and Amy Winehouse.
Lou is friends with the wife of the Fratelli"s frontman and after listening to her stuff they decided to form a band, the Codeine Breakfast Club.
The 25-year-old from Neilston, an expert pianist, took time out from her busy schedule to tell the News of her road to success.
She said: 'This is my first record deal.
'I sing with the biggest burlesque group in the world, Club Noir, of which Jon"s wife is a performer.
'I had been writing songs with Jon and at the start of the year he asked me if I wanted to be in a new band and record songs.
'After writing a song with Jon for my solo stuff we just took things from there.
'Jon is my friend now and because he is my friend"s wife it has been great.
'He is very grounded and we are both level headed.
'It is a job as well and he has made me be very sensible and he has used his experience to give me some guidance.'
Lou was the first ever head girl at St Luke"s Academy and she studied music at higher and sixth year studies.
She worked in Neilston"s Killoch Bar while a music student at Strathclyde University and she only started performing as a musician by chance.
Lou explained: 'When I was 20 part of my degree was sound engineering and for my project I had to record a whole album
'I could have recorded a band but I chose to record my own stuff so I would have a showcase of what I could do.
'I am really lucky because everything has fallen into place for me, what I really want to do is record and tour because I am very lucky to have this chance.'
The untitled album is due out in Autumn which Lou says will have a vintage 50"s pop music sound and the band hope tour the songs to coincide with their release.
