SEVERAL hundred Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire residents travelled to Barrhead on Friday to attend a jobs fair hosted by MSP Tom Arthur.

The Renfrewshire South politician organised the event, alongside Jobcentre Plus, to help display the variety of employment opportunities in the area.

In total, 25 local firms, such as Uplawmoor Hotel, Bridgend and Leggat Plant and McGill’s Buses joined worldwide companies such as Rolls Royce and Tesco giving out information to aspiring employees.

Also in attendance were different branches of the armed forces, officials from Greggs, and East Renfrewshire Council.

The SNP MSP said: “I was really pleased to host this Jobs Fair in Barrhead Foundry, with my office working closely with Jobcentre staff to make it happen.

“There was a fantastic range of employers, some taking applications and interviewing on the day.

“I’d also like to thank everyone who came along, employers and those looking for opportunities, and staff at The Foundry who did all they could to help the event run smoothly.

“I’m glad to have had such a fantastic turnout, and look forward to hosting this again.”
