The finalists have been revealed for an awards show celebrating top businesses.

A total of 18 companies will battle it out in eight categories at this year’s East Renfrewshire Business Awards.

The event is being organised by East Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, with the winners to be announced at a gala dinner at the Busby Hotel, Clarkston, on June 7. Host for the evening will be STV presenter, former Miss Scotland and East Renfrewshire resident Jennifer Reoch.

John F Hamilton, president of East Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “The shortlist comprises a fantastic range of companies who represent the best performing businesses in the area. I know this will set the judges a formidable challenge to find winners from such an outstanding selection.”

The top award, for Best Business, is split into two categories – one for companies with 10 employees or less and another for those with 11 or more.

First Floors, I-Kick, T30 and Home Instead Senior Care are finalists in the former, while the latter sees nominations for Complete Cleaning Services and pet store Creature Comforts.

Battling it out for the Developing East Renfrewshire’s Young Workforce Award are Barrhead contractors George Leslie Ltd, social enterprise YES Works and The Avenue Shopping Centre.

The Family Business Award sees another nomination for Creature Comforts, alongside flooring specialists First Floors and I-Kick Martial Arts.

The four candidates for the Excellence in Customer Service Award are Davie the Barbers, children’s entertainers Kidnetick, LA Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic and The Uplawmoor Hotel.

The Most Promising New Business Award will go to either sealant specialists CQ Services, fitness instructors T30 Fitness Training or sustainable power consultants Own Energy.

Finalists in the Community Impact Award are East Ren Taxis, Greenhouse CIC and George Leslie Ltd.

There are three rivals in the Independent Retailer of the Year category – Creature Comforts, Wedding Wise and First Floors.
