Cracking good fun was on offer as Barrhead’s United Reformed Church hosted an Easter coffee morning.

Well attended by local residents, the fundraiser demonstrated the support that church communities in Barrhead consistently provide to each other.

With more than £400 raised, volunteers have hailed the event as a great success.

Helen Kavanagh, treasurer at United Reformed Church, said: “We really are grateful for the support from everyone, especially those who came along from other churches.

“£400 is normal total for us but with less people there than previously, we cannot thank people enough for their generosity as it will make a huge difference to church funds.

“As well as being a fundraiser, events like this are a great way for people to get out and have a blether. It’s not all about the money.

“People seemed to have a good time as they said they really enjoyed themselves. It was great to see so many people coming along to socialise.”

Money raised from the event will go straight into church coffers, helping to pay for repairs to the building.

Coffee mornings such as this are held every two months or so by the United Reformed Church, with the next event due to take place in either May or June.

It also hosts a number of community groups, including a Friendship Club which meets at the church at 2pm each Wednesday.
