TALENTED kids from a Barrhead dance group have been handed top marks for their latest routines.

A number of little ones from the Jayne Arthur Theatre School’s pre-junior class were sporting big smiles as they were presented with the results from their December exam sessions at the town’s Bourock Parish Church.

More than 300 exams were sat last month, with two examiners putting the children through their paces, and each of them passed with flying colours.

Theatre school founder Jayne has praised the youngsters for maintaining a 100 per cent pass rate.

She told the Barrhead News: “Once again, I’m thrilled and extremely proud of all my pupils’ achievements.

“The majority of exams produced the top mark, with many receiving the highly-sought after ‘honours’ award for their grades ballet exams.

“The high marks are the result of months of dedicated hard work.”

Classes in ballet, tap, jazz and Highland are held weekly at Bourock Parish Church, with expert tuition on offer.

Jayne added: “Classes are taught to an exceptionally high standard, to exam level from two-and-a-half years to adults.

“It’s all about fun. I was a professional dancer and choreographer and still help with choreography with some professional productions but, after many requests from friends and family, I opened my own school in Barrhead and have established my own style.”

The school also stages an annual production at Paisley Town Hall, giving its young students the chance to showcase their talents.

This year’s town hall showcase will be staged in June, with work for that production getting under way soon.
