A TRIO of plucky Barrhead OAPs are enjoying the view after giant broadband boxes blocking their ground-floor windows were finally removed.
Lowndes Court couple Donald and Rosemary Ferguson, 88 and 82, and neighbour Betty McGrath, 83, won an 11-month battle with Virgin Media over the “eyesore” street cabinets – backed by Barrhead councillor Danny Devlin.
The broadband providers eventually stepped in last Friday to relocate the five-feet-high boxes, which blocked light from shining into their flats.
Cllr Devlin said: “Credit goes to Donald, Rosemary and Betty for refusing to back down.
“I’m delighted the cabinets have been taken away but they should never have been there in the first place.”
A Virgin Media spokeswoman said: “We can confirm the cabinets have been relocated to a more suitable location. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
