HUNDREDS of costumed revellers will ‘frighten’ up Barrhead’s streets for the town’s first-ever Hallowe’en parade tomorrow.
The spooky spectacle will take more than 300 people on a tour of the town before culminating outside the Asda store with a fancy dress competition and a fireworks finale.
Members of 3rd Barrhead and District Pipe Band will lead the parade, closely followed by DancZone, Arthurlie Juniors 2010s, Flair Gymnastics Club, Le Dance Studio, Jayne Arthur Theatre School, Christine Swanson School of Dance and 1st Barrhead Scout Group.
A host of other community groups are set to take part, as well as pumpkin characters, stilt walkers and fire performers.
The All About Barrhead steering group has organised the event on behalf of the town’s Business Improvement District (BID).
A number of BID member businesses will open their doors to members of the public to hold activities such as pumpkin-carving and mask-making workshops.
Children are encouraged to dress up in their most frightening or creative costumes for the fancy dress competition, which will see two prize winners walk away with £50 each.
BID members hope that lots of the town’s residents will join them along the route.
Parade participants are asked to meet at the Tesco store at 4pm before departing at 5pm and reaching their destination at around 5.45pm.
