A Barrhead Road remains closed after a diesel spill on Tuesday has left it unsafe to drive on.
An emergency road closure was established on Grahamston Road, from Dykebar Hospital towards Barrhead, on August 22 following a significant diesel spillage, as reported by the Barrhead News.
Police were called to the scene shortly after 4pm on Tuesday after a bus shed hundreds of litres of diesel.
At the time, drivers reported skidding through the spill - with some saying their vehicles were left in a 'filthy state'.
Today, Renfrewshire Council released a statement saying: "An initial assessment found the road in a dangerous condition and it requires to dry out before the full extent of any damage could be assessed. Further inspections took place today and the road has sustained substantial damage.
"The road will remain closed with sign posted diversions in place until remedial works can be completed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
