BARRHEAD’S Work It Out group was named as a finalist in the Adult Learners Week Awards, thanks to its efforts to get people back to work.

In 2003, the group was one of eight finalists for the awards, sponsored by Scottish Television and the Adult Learning Partnership.

Work It Out, supported by the Levern Valley Partnership (LVP), was made up of people who had been living with addictions and wanted to take control of their lives.

Valerie Stewart, of LVP, said: “The group were nominated because of the positive way they have worked to help not only themselves but also others living with addictions.”
