FUN-LOVING families are invited to take part in an Easter egg hunt with a twist in Barrhead.

The Big Barrhead Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, with more than 60 prizes up for grabs.

It is being organised by the All About Barrhead Business Improvement District (BID), who will hide a number of golden tickets across the town and it will be up to treasure-hunters to check the BID’s social media accounts for clues.

Each golden ticket found can be exchanged for one of a range of prizes at participating businesses.

Items on offer include Easter eggs, gift bags from F&M Hairdressing and a cut and blow-dry voucher from the Dolce Capelli salon.

All that youngsters need to take part is a responsible grown-up with a smartphone who will enjoy venturing around Barrhead in the search for hints.

Once participants figure out a clue, they can head to the hiding spot and collect a golden ticket.

Barrhead BID chairman Paul Santi, of the New Yorker chip shop, said: “It was always a big part of the BID’s plan to engage with the community and we hope this event will let people see how we can do that.

“It should be a great boost for local businesses too, encouraging visitors into the town over the Easter weekend and possibly visiting businesses they’ve never been into before.”

Andy Dunlop, BID manager, added: “The feedback from our Christmas event was fantastic and we really want to build on that, both with small events like this and larger scale events throughout the year.

“It’s an exciting time for us and we hope the community comes out to support what we are doing.”
