MEMBERS of St Luke’s High Press Club made time in their packed schedules to file a report ahead of the Easter holidays.

Aspiring reporters Roma Reat and Kaleb Queen, both in S2, worked together to produce an article on the school’s entry to the Scottish European Educational Trust filmmaking competition.

Here is what they came up with.

BUDDING filmmakers from St Luke’s High have seen their work on the big screen at the Scottish Parliament.

On Monday, March 27, S3 pupils Erin Kirkwood, Anna Mercer, Chloe Hobbs and Iain High participated in the Our films, Our Europe filmmaking competition in Edinburgh run by the Scottish European Educational Trust.

They entered their short film storyboard entitled Cruising Ship.

Their film was selected for the semi-finals and they attended a workshop on how to edit and create their short film with a professional filmmaker.

They created a multilingual film using French, Italian, Spanish and sign language which won them a place in the finals.

Mrs McLellan and the pupils travelled to Scottish Parliament for the ceremony and premiere of the short films.

The four gave a speech about their experience and were able to show off their skills and abilities in front a huge audience.

Their speech was fantastic and was commended by MSPs for its professionalism and enthusiasm.

Chloe Hobbs gave part of the speech in sign language which highly impressed SEET and they will be incorporating that into their future projects.

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the awards ceremony and their experience. The pupils’ creativity was also commended by MSP Joan McAlpine.

Chloe, Erin, Iain and Anna received the Creative Content Award for 2017 and brought home to St Luke’s a shiny trophy for the cabinet.

Their film had everyone in stitches and afterwards all the MSPs, Education Scotland and language officers personally congratulated them.

Mrs McLellan, Mrs Downey and the whole of St Luke’s are extremely proud of Anna, Erin, Chloe and Iain.
