PUPILS from a Barrhead school have teamed up with residents at a care home to share and learn together.

The innovative school project sees youngsters, aged between 15 and 18, from Barrhead High give up their free time on Wednesdays and Fridays to visit the town’s Millview Care Home for a range of activities.

The aim is to encourage different generations to get to know each other and teach each other new things.

So far, this has included games of dominoes, baking and a sing-a-long of classic tunes.

Jennifer Campbell, manager at the Bupa-run care home, said: “The involvement of students from Barrhead High is proving to be very beneficial to our residents as it encourages them to socially interact with those in the area.

“Spending time with the pupils gives the residents such a boost as they love interacting with them and hearing about what life is like for kids growing up these days.”
