People of all ages will flock to Neilston on Saturday for the village's annual agricultural and livestock show.

The event is one of the biggest on East Renfrewshire's social calendar, with thousands of visitors expected.

Those who go along will be able to enjoy a packed programme of activities, with something to suit all tastes.

These will include everything from a sheep shearing display to tug-of-war competitions.

A full range of field-to-fork displays will be another attraction, with more than 30 exhibitors in attendance, while the main ring will host the judging of cattle, sheep and Clydesdale horses.

The light horse area is the place to visit for competitions involving a range of equine types, with levels of showjumping to test competitors of all ages.

There will also be a kids' crafts tent, with youngsters able to enjoy face painting, colouring in and balloon modelling.

A spokesperson said: "The Neilston Show is a great day out for all the family.

"The first Neilston Show took place in 1825, to exhibit traditional livestock and produce from around Neilston. This year marks 199 years since that original show, with a full programme of competitions and exhibitions.

"We are already working on our next big show for our 200th anniversary in 2025, when we will host the UK National Highland Cattle Show.

"We could not run the Neilston Show without the involvement and support of the local community and businesses. We are particularly indebted to the Crawford, Docherty, Murdoch and MacLeod families for the use of their fields for the main show, sheepdog trials, horse section and car parking."

The fun takes place from 8am until 4.30pm and entry costs £6 for adults and £3 for concessions (children and seniors). There are also family tickets, admitting two adults and two children, available for £15.
