Plans to extend the dining area at the front of an East Renfrewshire restaurant have been given the green light.

The proposals for Peking Village in Eaglesham’s Gilmour Street were approved by planners this week subject to conditions.

The family-run business, which serves Chinese cuisine, has been a feature of the local community for more than two decades, but has been closed to sit in diners for some time.

An update this month on their website said: “The restaurant is still closed for sit in.

“However, we will continue to offer takeaway and delivery service on Thursdays to Sundays.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers and neighbours for supporting us during the very slow renovations.

“We know it has been a long time and we thank you for your patience.

“Rest assured Peking Village will definitely open fully in the future and it will be worth the wait.”

The planned extension will be approximately 2.85 metres deep and 12.2 metres wide along the front of the building.

As well as providing space for extra seating, it will also feature a take away waiting area inside the door entrance.

The conditions of the development include that it must begin within the next three years and that rules must be followed to prevent noise nuisance to the surrounding area.

These are that there should be no construction work or offloading of delivered materials outwith 8am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, and 8pm to 1pm on Saturdays.

There also should be no working on Sundays or local or national public holidays unless minor and temporary amendments have been otherwise agreed in advance in writing by the planning authority.

The starting up/warming up and shutting down of any construction machinery outwith these hours also should not be audible from the boundary of any noise sensitive property.
