A TEAM of litter-busters from Neilston has joined a campaign to stop rubbish reaching our oceans via rivers and canals, writes David Carnduff.
Neilston Development Trust (NDT) is throwing its weight behind environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful to take part in the Upstream Battle week of action.
The campaign is raising awareness of how litter from land can make its way to the sea.
NDT’s walking group has rallied to the cause and will pick up litter during a walk around Neilston’s country roads on Wednesday, September 18.

Alan Walker, of NDT, said: “As an anchor group for the Upstream Battle campaign, we know it’s time to get serious about marine litter.
“We hope our contribution will help us better understand the pathway of litter from source to sea and help end litter spoiling our streets and countryside.”
Anyone who would like to take part in the litter-pick should meet at The Bank, in Main Street, Neilston, at 9.45am for a 10am departure.
The walk will last around 60 to 90 minutes and grabbers, bags and gloves will be provided.
