WORTHY causes across East Renfrewshire are to benefit from a welcome cash boost, courtesy of the National Lottery.
In the latest round of Awards for All grants, Barrhead Netball Club has received £8,136, which will be used to set up monthly tournaments with other clubs, provide a training course for coaches and organise a summer festival.
Elsewhere, Sykes Terrace/Hamilton Place Residents Association, in Neilston, receives £5,000 to create an allotment and an adjacent section of wild meadow to provide a ‘useful and attractive’ shared space for the community.
The Tuesday Friendship Club, in Barrhead, has banked a £10,000 boost to continue its programme of social activities for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs.
And Walton Court Social Club, in Giffnock, received £800 to buy new sound equipment, which will help to improve events organised by the group within the sheltered housing complex.
Across Scotland, £1.5million has been shared between 203 community groups in this latest round of awards.
