A LEADING retailer has served up a welcome cash boost for good causes.
Among the charities to benefit from the latest round of grants handed out under Scotmid Co-op’s Community Connect initiative are Finding Your Feet and the Tuesday Friendship Club.
Established by Lochwinnoch woman Corinne Hutton, Finding Your Feet supports families affected by amputation or limb difference. It received a grant of £7,500.
Based in Barrhead, the Tuesday Friendship Club provides a weekly night out for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs. It benefited to the tune of £2,500.
There was also a £15,000 donation for the Trust Jack Foundation, which is based in South Lanarkshire.
Every penny of the cash paid out through Scotmid Co-op’s Community Connect initiative comes directly from the sale of single-use carrier bags.
Jim Watson, Scotmid Co-op vice-president, described Finding Your Feet and the Tuesday Friendship Club as “absolutely fantastic.”
