EAST Renfrewshire’s MP has joined a new group of politicians who have vowed to tackle issues that have been “ignored” because of Brexit.

Paul Masterton is among 50 politicians from seven different parties to join the More United MP Network.

Members of the group have said they are committed to working on cross-party initiatives in the national interest, no matter who is in power.

Initial campaigns will focus on poverty and homelessness, responsible technology, mental health and urgent climate dangers.

More United members are able to support campaigns through online petitions, as well as local outreach and lobbying events.

Mr Masterton said: “I came into Parliament to get things done for my constituents and, sometimes, the best way to do that is to work cross-party.

“Having a permanent network of MPs willing to do that will hopefully lead to better outcomes for people in East Renfrewshire and rebuild trust in Parliament.”

Bess Mayhew, More United CEO, added: “We are delighted Paul has chosen to be a part of our network. Now we need to tackle the important issues being ignored because of Brexit and give a voice to people who want to move Britain forward.”
