THERE were laughs all round as an East Renfrewshire schoolboy claimed victory in a comedy contest.

Ten-year-old Alasdair Logan was thrilled to win the event, staged as part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.

He took part in the competition during a visit to his local library and his joke was chosen as the winner from more than 120 entries from children at eight local primary schools.

Alasdair’s prize was a family pass to see kids’ comedian James Campbell, who is also the author of the successful Boyface series of children’s books, perform at Eastwood Park Theatre.

James invited the young comedian to join him on stage and told his winning joke: “Bob asked Bill ‘Why were you not at James’ party?’ and he replied ‘Because the invite said 4-8...and I’m 9!’”

Alasdair, from Giffnock, was also handed a signed copy of James’ children’s book The Funny Life of Pets.
