A CAT whose life was left hanging in the balance after he was set on fire by cruel thugs has made a remarkable recovery.

Short-haired tabby Leo suffered cigarette burns to his ears and had his tail set alight in the Glen Avenue area of Neilston back in January.

The two-year-old moggy had to undergo surgery to have his tail amputated.

However, just three months on from his ordeal, Leo is now back to his old self. His owner,

Pauline Shields, told the Barrhead News: “Leo’s doing really well – much better than anyone could have expected.

“He was going stir crazy in the house.

"We expect him to lose his balance but that's absolutely fine. He was getting miserable and frustrated being stuck indoors so although I keep him in a lot, I do let him out to be a cat with the others.

"Everything is fine now. Leo still rules the house and his trees. He's so easy to spot with that wee bare bum, it stands out a mile."
