VILLAGERS have rallied round to support a Neilston dad who is taking on the London Marathon for charity.

Scott McMillan will be among more than 50,000 people lining up for the world-famous event later this month.

Every step of the way, he will be coining in cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

And his fundraising efforts got off to a flying start on Saturday as a fun day took place at Neilston Scout Hall.

Scott’s wife Seonaid has thanked all those who supported the event.

She told the Barrhead News: “It started off as a family walk around the Neilston Pad and then we held a fun day in Neilston Scout Hall afterwards, with lots of different activities.

“It was mostly friends and family who came along.

“Scott chose to run for Teenage Cancer Trust as we’ve got young children.”

On the day, Seonaid and Scott raised around £750, with more donations still be to counted.
They are hoping the final total will reach £1,000.

Meanwhile, 33-year-old Scott has been pounding the streets to make sure he is in shape for his marathon challenge, which takes place on Sunday, April 28.

“He’s been doing a lot of training but I’m not sure he’s looking forward to it,” Seonaid laughed.

“It will be the first time Scott has taken part in the London Marathon.”
