EAST Renfrewshire parents are being encouraged to find out information about funded nursery places for their tots.

A family fun day is to be held in Barrhead, with lots of activities for children to enjoy while council staff provide advice on the criteria which apply for places within the Arthurlie Family Centre and McCready Family Centre.

Providing funded nursery places can also create opportunities for parents to have time to study or consider returning to work.

Councillor Paul O’Kane, East Renfrewshire’s education and equalities convener, said: “Our family centres offer fun, exciting environments which start our children on their learning journey through play. It will help the children to ignite their curiosity, grow their independence, develop friendships and explore new adventures.

“I really would encourage any parent who is interested in finding out more about the opportunities which are available for two-year-olds to head along to the family fun day, where staff will be able to answer any questions.

“I’m sure the children will enjoy everything which will be on offer.”

The event takes place at Arthurlie Family Centre on Wednesday, March 27, from 9.30am until 11.30am.
