IN East Renfrewshire, the top of the league table is a spot usually reserved for Williamwood or St Ninian's high schools.
But this year a new contender has joined the annual battle with Mearns Castle taking the top spot.
The local authority area's seven schools fall exactly in order with their Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) level one figures.
Mearns Castle has the fewest pupils from the most deprived postcodes, at just two percent, while Barrhead High, on the bottom of the East Renfrewshire table, has 38 per cent.
