SPECSAVERS staff in Barrhead and Newton Mearns have been helping to raise a smile by supporting Comic Relief.

The eye specialists decided to get in on the act by selling funny frames to raise funds for the annual charity appeal.

This is the third Red Nose Day that Specsavers has supported by launching the frames in store, with this year’s red glasses jester theme in keeping with the charity’s comic ethos.

Emma Robb, store director at the Newton Mearns branch, said: ‘Our glasses this year are fantastic and we hope everyone gets into the fundraising spirit by picking up a pair in store and helping us smash our £1million fundraising mark.

“We are really proud to support Comic Relief and all the good causes it funds.”

Since 2015, Specsavers has raised a total of £848,000 for Comic Relief, with this year’s televised appeal taking place on Friday.

The Comic Relief frames are on sale for £2, with all proceeds going to the charity.
