MORE than 900 people visited Barrhead High School on Saturday to cast their vote on which local projects should receive funding – and nobody went away empty handed.

Numerous groups had applied to receive up to £4,000 from the Scottish Government’s Community Choices Fund, and organisers Barrhead Housing Association made a family fun day out of it.

Among the youth projects to receive full funding were Barrhead Youth Football Club with £2,500, Magic WAND Community Safety & Health Project – Safety in the Park with £3,000, Auchenback Active – Art Project with £3,000, East Renfrewshire ASN Parent Action Group with £3,744, InCahootz Barrhead Drama Group with £3,656 and 1st Barrhead Boys Brigade with £3,500.

Among the general community projects, Levern Valley Defibrillator Community Partnership, BANDF and All About Barrhead Rainbow Run each received £4,000.
