CAMPAIGNERS working to bring public access defibrillators to Barrhead have celebrated their first successful installation at the Auchenback Resource Centre.

ARC director Rita Connelly said: “The directors of the ARC are delighted to have been chosen as the location for the very first public access defibrillator to be installed in Barrhead.

“We have offered facilities to Levern Valley Defibrillator Community Partnership to run heart start awareness courses and anticipate that these will begin in March.

“We hope that local residents will regard the defibrillator as a potential life-saver and help us to look after it as a vital community asset.”

The Levern Valley Defibrillator Community Partnership recently welcomed donations of £500 from Scotmid and £568 from 4th Mearns Guide Group, while a successful race night in the United Services Club  raised enough money to purchase another defibrillator and cabinet.
