Police are appealing for more information about two vehicles which could be linked to the murder of a man in Blantyre. 

Detectives investigating the murder of 36 year-old Rafal Michal Lyko in Greenhall Park, Blantyre are re-appealing to the local community in Cambuslang.

A murder inquiry was launched after the man's body was found inside a burning car.

Police were called to a report of a car on fire around 7.55pm on February 11.

The 36-year-old was found inside just two days after he arrived in Scotland from Poland to visit family.

The Mercedes GLE he was in was stolen from Oxgangs Road in Edinburgh last month.

Officers have now put out a fresh appeal for help. 

Detective Chief Inspector Davie Scott said: “As a result of our inquiries and the public response to our previous appeals, we have established that Rafal drove along Hamilton Road and Lightburn Road in Halfway, Cambuslang between 7pm and 7.40pm on Monday, February 11, 2019. 

"He was driving a brown coloured Mercedes B200 with the registration number starting AP59.  This vehicle was recovered by police in Lightburn Road on Tuesday, February 19.

“The black Mercedes GLE that Rafal was found within in Greenhall Park, was also seen driving on these same roads between those times.

"We are appealing to anyone who remembers seeing these two vehicles in the area on Monday, February 11, or anyone driving on these roads who has dash-cam footage to please come forward as soon as possible.  Any little piece of information may be relevant to this investigation."

Polcie also confirmed that they are currently collecting all of the information collected so far. 

DCI Scott added: “Officers are continuing to study a large amount of CCTV and are piecing together the information we have gained. 

"We are confident that with the assistance of the public and the determination and commitment of my inquiry team, we will trace who is responsible for this murder. 

"We would appreciate any assistance the public can give us and anyone with information should contact officers through 101 quoting reference number 3663 of February 11 2019.
